Tess:

Please forgive the delay in my response. It is a challenge to just 'read'

the posts of this group and still keep up my chores...

Yes I agree that NVC will be helpful in all written and verbal exchanges.

I see NVC as a practical guide to applying the yamas and niyamas of yoga

especially non-harming, truthfulness, nonstealing, greedlessness, purity and

contentment.

Yoga niyamas (nee-yah-mah) are internal to our being (but can also apply to

the non self). the Niyamas are practices of purity (RF is a good start on this

one and Natural Hygiene is more so), contentment, austerity, self-study, and

devotion to a higher principle.

The Yoga yamas are for interactions with other beings (human and other)

non-harming, truthfulness, nonstealing, chastity, austerity, greedlessness but

they

also can apply to the interactions of and integration of our mind, heart,

spirit, intuition (gut reactions) and body.

All I know of NVC is the jackal and giraffe languages and the practice of

being non judgemental (being non-judgmental is yoga's way to apply non-harming,

truthfulness, nonstealing and contentment.

The 'light' within me salutes and honors the 'light' within you.

Hi Bill,

I too have been studying NVC!

Not sure what you mean by applying the yama's and niyama's of

yoga... but I am finding that there are many parts to

wellness/wholeness; and I find the NVC teachings to be helpful in

creating communication that suppports my beliefs and desires.
