Guest guest
Thanks for all the feedback guys! Are we saying that receeded gums can actually come back down? Ok - So I have noticed them come down a bit after being real careful with the brushing, using gel paste, eating sensibly etc. But my dentist says they wont come all the way back down. Apparently i have " perfect " teeth. No fillings or problems but I was diagnosed with osteoporosis (via bone density scan) some years ago and show signs of mineral deficiency like severe hair loss etc. Oh and apparently jaw grinding/clenching may have added to the recession. (One does it without realising, like at night) I am not sure whether you're saying that using the pik just keeps infection out so that the gums can heal? I don't have gum disease. The hygienist already thinks I am obsessed (ok - she isnt wrong on that!) and refuses to clean them with either polishing or the water jet. Probably cause i am only whinging about a bit of staining that has nothing to do with tartar! My teeth are the " yellow " kind. But apparently yellow teeth are suppose to be stronger? Anyway; I am trying to simplify my lifestyle UNLESS this would be a good investment for my gums? The thought of hydrogen peroxide freaks me out a bit - I worked as a hairdresser years ago; you wanna see the state of my wrinkled hands as a result! What grade of peroxide are you using? How strong is the solution you are using in your mouth? How do you make sure you don't swallow any? Cheers Lads x Love Kay
Guest guest
<<<< Are we saying that receeded gums can actually come back down?>>>>> Hi Kay, I don't know about the receded gums actually coming back down, but the water-pik cleans out the food debri under the gum line where the bacteria builds up and causes the gums to seperate from the tooth. I would think as one cleans up the body with a healthful diet, a lot of reversal could happen and who knows the gums might just do some re-growth. <<<< I am not sure whether you're saying that using the pik just keeps infection out so that the gums can heal? I do have some recession of the gums too, so it will be interesting to see what happens. <<<< My teeth are the " yellow " kind. Between 20 and 30 was when I got all my cavities (child bearing age?) but for the past 38 years, I have had no cavities. My goal now is to get the amalgam fillings removed. (EXPENSIVE) <<<<The thought of hydrogen peroxide freaks me out a bit - I worked as a hairdresser years ago;>>>> Not the same. You can even get " food grade quality peroxide " <<<<What grade of peroxide are you using? How strong is the solution you are using in your mouth? I don't really measure it, I just pour some into the reservior of the water-pik, maybe like a tablespoon. Hope this helps. Vegigran
