Kay -------------------- I've had some great learnings and changed behaviors lately, regarding food combining. Once I've come to understand a little more about how my body digests the three major groupings of carbohydrates, fats and proteins, I've been paying a lot more attention to my food-combining, and my body seems to really appreciate it..once I've gotten going, it's really not that hard... Remembering, my understanding is that optimum is " mono-meals " . quickly, in summary Vegetables combine well with most foods. Sweet fruits: best combined with celery & lettuce. (and each other.) Sub-acid fruits: combined with either acid or sweet fruits, but *not* both at the same time. Good with lettuce and celery. Acid fruits: Best combined with sub-acid, but *not* with sweet fruits. Good with lettuce and celery. (and right here, when I first saw this was an early " EUREKA! " or " AHA " for me: I *noticed* that all the fruits combined well with lettuce and celery! (geesh...aren't I quick?? lol!) sooo...looking for an easy way to add some greens to my diet, I now work to keep some lettuce/fresh youngs greens, and celery on hand to add to *any* (melons excluded!) smoothie. whew...) Proteins: Best combined with salads. Do not use with sugar and starches. Starches: Best combined with green salads (no tomatoes). Do not use with protein or fruit. Melons: Best combined alone. Does not combine well with other foods. ok, depending upon what type of learner you are, one source is the picture described next, which has really nice " pictures " of what types of foods are in each category. that was a great start for me. Inside one of my kitchen cabinets, I keep a really nice (really nice because my daughter printed it our for me on photgraphic quality paper) Food Combining for Health picture. Unfortunately, I no longer know where I got this...I must've cut off the info..somebody, somewhere has it posted, since I dont' have the capability to create adobe files... If you'd like a copy of this, I've just posted it on my website, here: http://web.tampabay.rr.com/efarrel2/ and the file is called foodcombining.pdf. a more detailed listing is from Dr. Theodore A. Baroody's work: entitled, Acid-Alkaline Food Values, from his book " Alkalize or Die, 1991. " you have to watch some of the " breaks " between alkaling/acid. I remember some discrepancies. and I've just put this file, called Food Values - Acid-Alkaline.doc on my website also. I hope these provide some benefit to someone; and remeber, these are just from my computer. I'd not originally necessarily planned to " publish/share " these - so they may not be perfect...they've not been edited, etc...etc....[<== Disclaimer....lol!] Note that the first file is a pdf, where you can get the free Adobe reader to open it if you need to, and the 2nd is a MS Word file, and you'll something to open it with. In Win XP, you just " rightclick " on the file name, and download it to your computer...if anyone does this, please let me know if the files are really accessible to anyone else. I can't test that; of course they're available to me: it's my website..I no longer do a lot of website stuff, used to years ago, in the beginning of HTML, etc..etc.. just haven't chosen to keep up with the technology, etc..etc.. I've also taken a stab and sent an email, last week?, to the group moderator, asking about how to get files put up here in our group. I guess I could always start another group just for file storage..that seems silly, though. If anyone knows the moderator, maybe put in a plug to allow us to upload files here? all the best, Bob
