Guest guest
lostlandscapes [lostlandscapes] Monday, April 25, 2005 6:40 PM [Raw Food] raw tea? hello everyone! i am new to the group, as well as raw foodism. before becoming aware of the concepts of living foods and enzymes, my diet fortunately consisted of a strong deal of raw foods, with a large green salad and an abundance of fresh fruits consumed daily. unfortunately, there are also other toxic and empty eating habits along for the ride (soy products, refined snacks, alcohol). i've perused through a few books and many websites, and feel prepared to make the commitment to a raw diet. of the obstacles that i face, my addiction to tea (or the habit of taking in something hot and stimulating in the morning) may be the hardest to break, as i understand that tea is not accepted, correct? and exactly what is the consensus (if there is one) regarding medicinal herbs? for three consecutive days i have consumed two large glasses of green smoothies. visiting the fridge often. today, a bit constipated, very gassy. a sign of transition? or perhaps i am in error somewhere..... anyhow, thanks everyone for being here, your tales and wisdom and support have already made this a worthwhile commitment! tim _____ Hi Tim, and welcome!!! Your symptoms are almost ubiquitous among new RFs, almost everyone's body begins dumping toxic material the moment we begin t improve the quality of what we eat. The gas can also arise from " backward " food combining, that is, putting fast-digesting foods behind foods the body digests more slowly. But this is something you can learn more about during the days and weeks ahead. In the meantime, congratulations on choosing a new path. I'll offer just one suggestion for you at this early juncture: focus on what you are adding to your program, not on what you are removing. As you add increasing quantities of " good " foods, you will experience on your own the depleting effects of the " bad " ones. For example, with respect to your question regarding tea, tea will not likely cause cancer, heart disease, stroke, etc. But the tea may not support optimal energy and vitality, either. Focus now on the " big " pieces, eat a lot of fruits and greens. In particular, start your day with fruits you love. Maybe you could postpone the tea until an hour or two after you've eaten one fruit meal. This is just to help you get started a bit. Most important: enjoy!!
