Re: [Raw Food] Water and detox

I am not trying to avaid dates and nuts, I am just trying to cut back

on the nuts because I eat a lot of them and avocados in a day...which

from what I understand, we don't need an excess of these foods, just

a little bit in a day. Thank you for your comment. N

Great, Kay! Actually, I eat none at all on most days, avocado occasionally,

a few nuts only rarely, as at a potluck or something like that. We need

neither the fat nor the indigestible fiber found in nuts and seeds. We do

benefit from a small quantity of the fat etc. in avocado, but I find that

even an avocado a week is sometimes too much at this point.

Let's remember, all high-fat foods are, by definition, low-water and

low-oxygen foods. The two nutrients we need most of are oxygen and water, by

far, and also the nutrients that travel in water.

In all fairness to the newbies, Elchanan (of which I

am one!!) I think it should be mentioned that some

long-term raw fooders do quite well eating a higer

percentage of fat in their diet. I've been reading the

Paul Nison books Raw Knowledge (I and II) and in it he

features several longterm rawfooders who eat nuts and

seeds daily. Some also eat grains.

Also, Storm Talifero of thegardendiet.com eats nuts

daily. He has been raw for 30 years or so and is the

picture of perfect health and vitality.

There are so many different philosophies out there as

to which is the best way to eat raw that I think

newcomers at least ought to be aware of them, then

they can find what is right for their own body.

On this note, Elchanan, could you possibly address your thoughts regarding

fast oxidizers/slow oxidizers/mixed oxidizers. Dr. Gabriel Cousens believes

that people are either one or the other and that fast oxidizers need a

higher percentage of protein in their diets.

Just wondering what your ideas are about individualizing diets with keeping

in mind that none of our systems is exactly alike.

Thanks in advance for your input.
