1:02 PM [Raw Food] Water and detox

Whew! Day three and detox is coming on. I can feel it, probably from

all the coffee I used to drink. My eyelids are heavy and my neck and

head ache, but not too bad. In the past when I have gone raw (and

failed) I did tons of food combining with LOTS of pureed soaked nuts,

and just mountains of raw food recipes. I never really detoxed

hard-core, as far as I can tell besides headaches form caffeine. This

time around however I am sticking to lots of fruits, and a big romaine

salad with a few veggies added. (But I still eat about a handful of

nuts...I have a thing for date rolls rolled in chrushed almonds. But

I just eat two a day. And am almost out of them. I can never let a

date go to waste.I will stop on my nut addiction as soon as they are

eaten up.) I don't feel as hungry as when I have tried a %100 raw

food diet in the past. I am probably taking in about 1000

calories...I don't know for sure...how many calories would an average

size person need...is it even relevent?

Today I haven't had much of an appetite...I am guessing because my

body is busy detoxing. However I have had an amazing thirst. Every

time I try to eat something..it is as if my body says " NO...Drink

Water PLEASE " ! But i had always heard that " raw fooder " don't need

much water besides what is available in the fruit. And how long

should detox last anyway...I guess that depends on the individual huh?

when does detox usually start for other people, does it start right

away, or does your body need a period of adjustment? Just curious. I

don't feel that desperate for an answer, I was wondering.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thank you.

Hey there, just a few words of encouragement and a few bits of info. Sounds

as if you are doing better than ever!!! Keep on going!

1. The headaches may arise from caffeine withdrawal, AND they may also arise

over time from lost of other toxic releasing. Just FYI.

2. Calories ABSOLUTELY matter. Posted on this late yesterday, just reposted,

subject line: Transitioning: Eating enough food. If you do not consume

enough calories, you WILL crave and binge, almost guaranteed. What are your

height, present weight, overall activity level?

3. Drink when you are thirsty. Ignore all that stuff about RFs don't need to

drink. RFs whose bodies are exquisitely healthy, who have already released

all excess water weight and body fat, who are physically active, get plenty

of sunshine and fresh air, eat a high-water/low-fat diet, consume enough

calories, have learned poise, developed high self-esteem, etc, often do not

require much extra water. Everyone else, drink!!!

4. I encourage you to eliminate the word " detox " from your vocabulary. Your

body is cleansing, repairing, and replenishing itself. Removal of toxins is

one of many processes along this way. Focus primarily on where you are

going, only briefly or not at all on what you are leaving behind.

5. Your body will cleanse itself until it is cleaned up! Just enjoy the

ride.

Hello Elchanon,

what a lovely reply. THank you. My height is 5' 7 " and I think I

weigh 130 lbs, I am not sure, I don't have a scale, but that is the

weight I usually keep. Am I supposed to have the regualr calorie

requirement that SAD diets require? Or since I am getting higher

quality nutrition, I assumed that I wouldn't need as many calories.

Hmmmm....A bit to think about. I didn't eat much fruit yesterday and

I ended up the cooked food dinner I had to make for my family,( so I

see what you mean by cravings) they are waiting to see how I do before

they transition. I am the guinea pig of the family...so, I am

determined to succeed. I know this is the right thing to do, to

switch to raw food, and listening to my body, I want to make sure I do

it right for my own health and the future health of my family. THanks. N
