AM [Raw Food] (Elchanan) Transitioning: Body composition

From Elchanan's comment: Lean tissue moves and supports us, structurally.

In contrast, fat and excess water must be moved and supported by us,

consuming vast amounts of energy and other resources.

Vegigran writes: Elchanan,

This is so encouraging! I really try to exercise more, but I seem to " run

out of gas " ! I have reduced the fat in my diet and doing that maybe I

should see more results. Thanks again ever so much!

You're welcome, glad this helps you. Now let's focus on returning from

inactivity to activity. The principle " use it or lose it " applies. When we

have not used our body in some way, we must return slowly. This applies

equally to almost anything, from physical activity to sunshine. I know

nothing of your size, shape, etc., but my general recommendation is to do a

little bit, enough to feel something, yet not so much as to make yourself

miserable.

Your journey out of health was cumulative in nature, and your journey back

will be equally so. Just take little steps, steady progression is far more

useful than any absolute measure of achievement. Just get some fresh air and

sunshine, move about a bit more every few days or week, just gradually as

you feel yourself improving.

Please note that as you increase your activity level even a small amount of

what has become familiar to your system, you will likely experience an

increased demand for rest and sleep. You may have to allow extra sleeping

time for awhile. Don't worry, your system will renormalize as you go

forward.

Also, if you hit a period of cleansing, you may feel tired just from that.

Feel free to back off a bit when/if this occurs, then move forward again.

Just treat yourself well, stay within the bounds of what you find enjoyable,

and your capacity will expand gradually, in just the perfect way for you.

Take care,

Elchanan

Hi Elchanan,

I'm not really a total " couch potato " , but I'm not having the energy to do

as much as I'd like to. In a post to Bob, I stated that maybe I'm expecting

too much at my age, but then when I read what others are doing, maybe I'm

not.

After reading all the good information that you have been sharing with us, I

think this time I can make the raw diet work, so I know there will be

periods of detox ahead. Thank you for the encouragement. I don't know the

exact figures of my BMI, but I am 5'9 " and weigh 125.
