Elchanon - what is your view on lentil/mung sprouts? Now look - I just threw 3 half packets away thinking " good - I dont need to bother with these since i am back on Nat'H " !! " Don't " tell me I should have kept these legumes for my salads?! What do you think though? I do like them in salads with avo or seed dressing but since the recomendation is 1 avo' per week (approx) then I needed to encourage myself in getting away from " savoury " salads. I am still interested to hear whether I should completely give up seeds/flax etc. Sorry if I am moving on too fast. I have some time for here this week - Kay x _____ Hi everyone, As a generalization, we are designed to eat fruits and shoots. Many very young, tender greens work just fine for our species. If it tastes good and isn't causing any obvious upset, then it's probably the least of your worries unless you are REALLY at a high level of fine-tuning your program. In comparison with what almost all of us used to eat, sprouted legumes are a wonderful food. It's only when we begin considering what is truly optimal for our species that legumes drop out. I have never seen any claim suggesting that legumes, in and of themselves, cause any disease. However, they do require more energy to digest than do fruits, shoots/tender greens, and they do embody a combination of substances that creates a bit of a food combining challenge (starch + protein) inside us. So frankly, if you're transitioning and a bit of legumes helps you stay all-raw, eat the legumes!!! And if you're a competitive athlete, or you are really striving for optimal energy, focus, clarity, etc., then drop them. But you can always drop them next month, you know. :) Seeds and nuts are a bit of a different issue. We sometimes suggest a small quantity of seeds blended with an acid fruit, to make a salad dressing. For example, an orange with some hemp seeds or macadamia nuts. But nuts and seeds are high in insoluble/indigestible fiber as well as fat, and so they are really designed as a primary food for other animals and a snack for us, at most, Hope this is helpful, Elchanan -- ---------------------[ Ciphire Signature ]---------------------- vlinfo signed email body (1828 characters) on 19 April 2005 at 23:13:54 UTC rawfood ------------------------------- : Ciphire has secured this email against identity theft. : Free download at www.ciphire.com.
