Guest guest
rawfood On Behalf Of korangeli Monday, April 18, 2005 6:47 AM [Raw Food] All this KALE - Rough stuff! Edible weeds are dark scrumptious and soft. If you cant forage them, see if your local health store can get some in. I buy it fresh in packs, locally grown. I would be interested with Elchanon's view on buckwheat and sunflower greens? I find them pretty soft - esp' the uckwheat greens. They are easy to grow in the summer and I live in a flat. You dont need alot to add to a salad - tastey and nutritious. I am sure that these little shoots are like those that show up in nature for us to forage along with wild weeds and herbs? _____ Hi there, not ignoring this. I wrote a long post some time back on soaking, germinating, and sprouting, and I am presently upgrading that post. Will send when ready, PACKED with information. Short answer: green shoots good, nuts and seeds soaked and germinated but with no real green shoot coming out, not so good. Best information in the world on growing sprouts in a small home environment: Steve Meyerowitz , The Sproutman, http://www.healthy-eating.com/sproutmanbooks.html. Steve doesn't make the distinctions I do about high-fat/high-water nor does he emphasize fruit to the same degree, but his knowledge, books, and web information about sprouting are simply the best, as far as I know. And he is a successful long-term RF with wonderful personal energy. Great man to learn from. As for those " weeds, " definitely they are an integral part of Nature's garden. Only humans think of them as a form of pest or vermin to be slaughtered. But then, only humans remove all plant life from a field and then plant one single " crop " for miles on end. Nature has far too much UNcommon sense to do something so depleting to soil that takes centuries to build.
