Hi everyone,

I've been on and off raw for about 4 years now. With each month, I learn

more and my choices evolve more.

In the beginning, I still used grains, garlic, onion, Nama shoyu, olive oil,

etc. I was newly raw and experiencing many improvements in my health and

weight and I was happy.

As I read more, I'd learn something wasn't optimal food for humans and I'd

make a decision to exclude it, or to wait until I felt more ready. The first

foods I excluded were grains. I then learned more and made more alterations

to my diet. Finally, I felt my salad dressings had to change (oil, vinegars,

garlic, etc) and I reached my limit for feelings of loss. I no longer liked

the taste of my salads without the stimulating zip the dressings had given

them. I felt frustrated and angry and I fell of the wagon. I found myself

bingeing, then struggling back to raw, then bingeing again, then back to raw,

on and on.

Then last spring, I tried about 6 weeks of eating only fruit. It was

wonderful. I felt like a million bucks and my energy soared. I loved it. But

I

started reading that I was missing greens and needed to add them back. I

still couldn't find a salad dressing that appealed to me and I felt stuck

again.

Back to the one and off struggle.

Then Victoria Boutenko wrote her Ode to Green Smoothies and I got excited.

A way to have greens that I could probably handle. So, I began making Green

Smoothies and I've found I love them! I have returned to eating my first

food at mid-day; usually bananas. I eat whole fruits whenever I'm hungry

during

the day and then, sometime mid-afternoon, I make myself a green smoothie.

I'm often satisfied for the rest of the day after that, but if I do want more,

I munch on more fruit, usually grapes right now.

Something amazing happened this week. I've been eating my same favorite

fruits and wondering if I'd ever desire anything else. Two days ago, I began

to

want some mango. The funny thing is, I've never really liked mango! So, I

bought some and put it in my green smoothie and it was really delicious.

In addition, after Elchanan talked of chewing our smoothies, I decided to

try it. For me it made a big difference. I had noticed that my smoothies were

hitting my stomach kind of hard. By chewing them, I find I have such

uncomfortable sensation any more!

Right now, I'm really happy with my food choices and how I'm feeling.

Many thanks to Elchanan and others on this list for the wonderful

information shared!

Carolyn~

Thank you so much for sharing your raw experience--

I really enjoyed hearing about your struggles (salad dressing/oil, etc), & how

you have worked the green smoothies into your diet. I love hearing the personal

stories of others & how they have dealt with the common obstacles we all seem to

face as we transition to raw. Your story inspires me to further improve my diet.

blessings!

I would love to see PICTURES of RAW KITCHENS.. Like how and where they store

their fruit and other things. If they sprout.. how and where they sprout...

plus loving to hear of others stories...
