I just wanted to share a bit of my experience with natural house cleaning and personal hygiene. About 3 months ago I started uses all natural products and no store bought cleaning (for house or self ) products. I have 6 things I use; baking soda, vinager, olive oil, salt, honey, soap wort. Personal hygiene: I make my shampoo by boiling 1 liter of water 1dl of soap wort and 3 tablespoons of honey (for conditioning and thicking) I also add rosemary for smell and I have dark hair plus I am growing it long. For extra conditioning once a week I massage my head and hair with oilve oil before bed and leave it on all night then wash it out. I also use this as a body wash. I make a small amount (about a week supply) because it does go bad quickly. If my skin is getting a bit dry I use Olive oil instead of lotion. and for deodorant I mix a tiny bit of olive oil and baking soda in my palm and rub in places that need deodorizing. (if you choose to test this I give this warning: just like with the rf way of eating it takes the hair abit to get used to this and it might be a bit icky for a bit until you are used to it,air is shinier bouncier and I have no split ends on hair that hasn't been cut in a year but now my h Also there are different herbs and oils for different types of hair if you want this information just ask and I will send a list ) To wash my face I use baking soda (you may think thisharsh but you don't need to scrub just gently wipe it over your face then wipe of with a warm cloth and rinse with cold water ) . and to moisterize I use oilive oil. I don't wear makeup but I add a little extra olive oil to my eyelashes to make them seem longer and shinier. And i use straight baking soda to brush my teeth House cleaning: I make a big bucket of water and add vinager to the mixture and clean everything with this. For hard jobs like soap scum and and stains I use a little baking soda. For washing my clothes i use 2 tablespoons of salt in the first wash cycle (soak?) nothing in the wash cycle and 1\2 cup vinager with a couple of drops essential oil (ylang ylang or lavander) in the rinse cycle. Caring for the Earth is my passion and is the foundation for my spirituality. It has taken my years to get my cleaning down to these basics. But I see no reason to spend money on special ecological products when these 6 products are all needed. Nor do I see any reason to spend hours making products for personal hygiene. Guest guest
Vegwriter, no I don't wear make up. I have this natural coloring that looks like I do and when I actually wear it I look really scary. Plus I figure that i look better with out it. I will admitt to using a lipgloss now and then but it wears off and I forget to re- apply...lol I only wash with the baking soda once a day before bed and rinse my face with cool water when i get up.
