Guest guest
Laura I've always been able to find castile soap etc at my local hfs. Even in smaller areas this has not been a problem. As for essential oils, I have taken a few courses (though am by no means an expert), and there are big differences in quality. If you are looking for one for cleaning to simply add scent try lemon. It is not necessary to have the highest quality in this case. A brand like Aura Cacia (available in most grocery stores) would be fine. The pupose you have in mind and the price you are willing to pay will determine the quality you buy but for medicinal-type purposes you should really try to buy the best quality you can. A small 5ml bottle should last you a long while because you need very little. Also, certain oils such as rosewood are no longer available from reputable suppliers because of overharvesting. I have noticed that it is still available from other less green suppliers. FWIW, I use oils for everything from cleaning to colds to bee stings and they are usually really effective. Guest guest
Laura, I get most of my essential oils at local stores, but they usually have limited selections. Getting them online may be cheaper than buying them locally. There are benefits to buying them locally. Chances are you will get a reputable brand at your natural foods store, and there will probably be someone there that can give you some guidance. There are lots of sites on the internet that sell essential oils. You must be wary. There is a difference in quality. Some people may try to sell diluted oils, and some people may not be selling essential oils at all. Some people try to pass synthetic fragrance oils off as essential oils. I can give you the names of some of the brands that I use. Nature's Alchemy, Tisserand Aromatherapy, Aura Cacia, and Oshadhi have all worked well for me. Look for their sites on the net. Mountain Rose also sells the oils in bulk. If there is an aromatherapist on the list, maybe he or she could give some more insight. I get castile soap at my local natural foods store. Two brands to look for are Dr. Bronner's and Vermont Soap. Borax is a naturally occurring salt. It can be bought in powdered form. It is used in household cleaning, laundry, etc. It is toxic if ingested. I am definitely not an expert. Again, maybe someone else could lend some insight. I hope that I have been able to help. progressive7862 <allens717 wrote: Heather, Do you get your essential oils online or at a local store? What about borax? I've come across the name a number of times, but it sounds like it is pretty toxic?
