Hi,

This message was very interesting. My 7 year old daughter has epilepsy. My

daughter is not raw, but she has been vegan since birth. Her seizures began

as an infant. Most of her seizures are nocturnal and she now has them about

every 28 days.

I've never allowed her to be put on any medications. Epilepsy meds are very

toxic. I've read and read and continue to read and learn about epilepsy.

On our own, we've discovered ice helps her when applied during a seizure (on

her forehead and at the base of her skull. Also we've discovered that if I

apply very firm pressure to two spots near the base of her skull, many of her

seizures stop immediately.

Since Christmas, we're learned something else. My children went " no sugar "

starting the day after Christmas. My kids have always eaten much less sugar

than most people, but we went " no sugar " and filled our home with fresh fruit

that they could eat anytime. My daughter went 66 days without a seizure,

rather than the usual 28 days. When she did have a seizure, it followed a

friends birthday party where I allowed her to have a piece of the cake. Now

she's experimenting. She's noticing that anytime she allows herself to have

something with sugar, she gets a bad headache and feels a seizure coming on.

Without sugar, she feels no seizure activity and no headaches.

We continue to learn. I'd love to take her raw vegan, but she's not willing

yet. She is interested and may do it someday, just not yet.

Hello anyone dealing with epilepsy,

I don't know how many people know about the connection between

having seizures and increased levels of apartic acid. I'm not a

doctor in nutrition however, I believe that all sprouts, if not

most, are high in aspartic acid. There are about five amino-acid

that I concentrate on to help me with my seizures but aspartic acid

is one that I try to limit. When kept in a healthy balance aspartic

acid is very benificial for neural and brain disorders however, in

people with epilepsy it has been found in increased levels. Does

anyone know what all or any sprout's amino acid profiles are,

especially it's level of aspartic acid in comparrison to glutamic

acid? I have found a few but only four different ones and read about

this problem also. I really want to become a raw-live-vegan but I

will need to cut back on eating to many sprouts. I think I had a

grand-mal seizure a few days ago while sleeping as I had/have all

the signs of doing so. This past week I've eaten a great deal of

sprouts, more than usual, and then a few days ago a seizure. I

guess I'll need to balance sprouts with other foods that are low in

aspartic acid and higher in glutamic acid. I still want to keep

sprouting. Thanks.
