Hi Debbie,

If your eyes seems hypersensitive and you are habituated to wearing

sunglasses, best to wean off them. :Your eyes, i.e. your retina, will need

time to readjust to different levels of ambient light. Think of it as going

back into the sunshine after you haven't been for awhile, you'd take it

gradually. Same idea exactly. Don't let your eyes get to the point where

they feel irritated from the sunlight, that's too much for that day.

Also, easier to reacclimate using earlier/later sun at first, then toward

midday, which is brightest and most intense sunlight.

For your eyes watering, the washcloth is a nice idea. You might try varying

it, try cool and also try fairly warm, lie down and place it over your eyes,

then a dry cloth over it to hold in the heat a bit longer. See whether that

may be a bit soothing at times.

And of course, make sure you are consuming lots of water!!! And NO salt!!

(if you can :)

Best,

Elchanan

RE: [Raw Food] Herbs ( " crude oil " example)

Glad I could make someone happy... I have got the eye crying thing going on

at this time... geesh I hate this.... looks like I am crying and it feels

awful.. and drying to the eyse and skin around it... seems I am constantly

in the bathroom cooling my eyes with water on a washcloth.. this makes my

eyes so sensative to light. oh the sunglasses part were for the light bulb

moment thing... but good to know... now to just keep my mind from over

riding my mouth here... well maybe i should let it over ride it but with

good information instead of bad... but grrrrrr sure gets frustrating when

one doesn't listen to the other...my " gemini twins " sure do fight each other

.... I sit on the sidelines shaking my head like " get a grip please! "

it, Gypsi!! I cannot imagine myself wearing a

Oh, and just for the record, sunglasses will damage your eyes, don't use

them any more than you'd use sunscreen. Always connect directly with Nature,

and Nature will connect directly with you. Sounds simple, and it is.

Best to all,

Also be mindful that the purest way to acquire Vitamin D is directly through the

circle around your eyes in addition to your skin (depending on how much clothing

you have on). Good point on what time of day and season you're exposed to the

sun, mid-day through 2 or 3 p.m. can be harmful.

It's been said that from Spring through the end of Summer the average person can

absorb and store up enough Vit. D to last for up to 4 months.

I'll reserve my opinion on the usage of salt but in the meantime, dried and

ground celery is a very good salt substitute.

Good points, couple of corrections just for accuracy.

We do not acquire vitamin D, we make it under the skin, throughout whatever

parts of the body we expose to sunlight. In contrast, we MUST acquire

vitamin C. (Cats, carnivores, are the opposite, they make vitamin C and must

acquire vitamin D).

The sun is not harmful to us. Rather, we may have rendered ourselves

subcapable of responding to full sunlight by depriving ourselves of adequate

sunlight for an extended period. We ARE designed for midday sun exposure,

but if we have not been out much, we must return to the sun slowly. This

allows the pigment-producing layer of the skin to " come back online, " so to

speak.

Yes, vitamin D is fat soluble, and therefore if we make enough, we can store

up a fairly large supply.

Celery does not provide salt, but rather sodium ions. The sodium ions

imparts a " salty " taste detectable on our tongue, IF our taste buds are

working well.

We need sodium ions (lots) and chloride ions (modest amount), but NOT in

equal quantities. In contrast, salt (sodium chloride) creates significant

disturbances in our blood chemistry and elsewhere, increases burden on the

heart, etc. Salt changes the weight, surface tension, thermal capacity

(specific heat), and various other characteristics of water and therefore

has the same effects in blood. Salt is caustic to the point of being

corrosive. Further, our body cannot harvest the sodium or the chlorine in

the salt, we can only remove the salt or, lacking the resources, store it in

a brine under the skin as water weight for (hopefully) later removal.
