Guest guest
Hi group, new here! I want to share a little about my life so far, mostly in terms of meds. This is only a small part of the whole picture, but it's something I find necessary to share at this time, I'm reading about people taking over-the counters/vitmains. From the moment I was born I was put on meds, lungs collapsed and I was underweight. At minimum I would take a dose of antibiotics once a month for my reoccurring ear/throat infection. On top of that my mom would give me Tylenol, Advil... u know the list. My grandmother would also give me those vitamin C wafers that tasted like orange. In HS I would have at least a small bottle of mixed over the counters - mostly Advil because they had that sweet coating, and I would pop them all day long. Not a day went by that I wasn't in some sort of pain. The older I got the more meds I took in a day. By college I had at least 5-10 meds I would have to take in a day, birth control, antibiotics, migraine meds, steriods, the list goes on. I did not have any " life-threatening " illness; I was a " normal " kid. Society actually believes that I was normal being sick all the time - nothing about what I experience SHOULD be considered NORMAL. I still wonder how I got through school, my mom used to pick me up almost everyday because I wasn't feeling well. Now add to the infections and migraines, back pain (multiple car accidents before I started driving), break-outs, rashes, extremely heavy and painful menstrual cycle, vitamin deficiency, anemia, braces... yeah the list goes on. At age 24 I met my husband Chris, he didn't believe in taking prescriptions, and was a vegetarian. I instantly became vegetarian (allowing only dairy), then 1 month later vegan, and dumped all prescriptions. Within 2 months I had my vitamins tested and they all showed to be normal, yes that includes b-12 - I used to (in high school) have to take shots for that, I tried it 3 times, each time making sleep within 5 minutes, for at least 15 hours - and now here I was not consuming any animals or animal by-products in any form and my b-12 tested normal - really makes you think about all the hype surrounding this issue. About a year after I swore off all meds, even over the counters I had a severe migraine and couldn't see, my mom gave me ONE children's Tylenol and I took HALF. I got to experience what it's like to give a child a Tylenol, I hallucinated, and it wasn't fun, but it taught me a big lesson. I also stopped taking supplements, and a few months ago took a few – long story, I did not have a horrible reaction but my body screamed NO and I itched like crazy, that was more than enough to tell me that I don't need to supplement anything. Now I could look for a scientific explanation, but I don't need one, I know what I felt, and I knew it wasn't right. Once you stop taking meds, and I'm including supplements, the body starts to heal itself instead of using up energy trying to get rid of the toxins. All of my medical issues have resolved themselves over time. The only time I ever get a migraine is when I am around cigarettes or sometimes when I eat something cooked. I am thankful to those headaches, because they force me to rest and re-evaluate my situation. I also get to see just how wonderful our innate intelligence is. The power to make the body heals the body – this has been proven to me over and over again every moment of my life. If we could experience life through a child then we would never do these harmful things to ourselves. I am thankful for my experiences which taught me to listen to my inner voice, my instinct. When we decided to change our lifestyle and include more raw fruits and vegetables into our diet we tried the " transitional/gourmet " raw foods, that most RFs eat every meal, and knew instantly that it wasn't right for me. We transitioned over to our natural diet, what one would consider natural hygiene. No book, expert, Dr., or person can tell you what is right for YOU. BUT if you listen to yourself, your true self, you will find all the answers. Lori www.infinitelove.info my website has more about my journey toward a natural lifestyle.
