Hi everyone,

an x but he did have a problem of being bi-polar.. which does not excuse him

but was the main reason for his rudness or uncaringness....hubby now is also

bi-polar but on a better more even keep realm... But still hates to wait..

lord only knows why..is it the medical problem or the nerves?? who knows. i

Sometimes I find it constructive to remind myself how the medical industry

works nowadays. For most people, the experience begins when we " feel sick "

or that " something is wrong. " So we go shopping for a diagnosis. (We call

this " going to the doctor. " ) We walk in and share our list of symptoms, then

ask that great question in the sky, " What's wrong with me? " (a.k.a. " What do

I have? " etc.) And in so doing, we set aside our focus on connecting with

ourselves, on really reaching INSIDE for our ancient, innate knowing, and

instead we ask someone we barely know to adopt our symptoms as a curious

puzzle to solve. And if we are VERY fortunate, the doctor will give us a

relatively benign diagnosis right away.

Now from the doctor's perspective, this is the main triggering event for

everything that follows. This occurs largely because almost all movement of

funds (other than research funds) is linked to the diagnosis. Based upon the

chosen diagnosis, a doctor may arrive at a " prognosis " (often just skipped

over these days) and then proceed to a " treatment plan. " This treatment plan

is intended to alleviate the symptoms we presented in the beginning. Of

course, every treatment plans always " side effects " , but most of us have

been well-trained to expect and accept these side effects as a natural and

necessary part of treatment, which we KNOW we need.

The medical establishment adds new " diagnostic codes " to their code book

almost daily. There are tens of thousands of diagnoses from which any doctor

may choose, and in fact most of them are probably unaware of 90+% of the

diagnostic codes available to them. Moreover, doctors are limited in the

codes they may choose to the extent that their " malpractice insurance "

limits them to practicing in one or more " specialties " or " areas of

practice. " So a heart specialist tends to use only broken-heart diagnoses,

an ENT tends to look only from the neck up, a surgeon looks for things to

remove, replace, or reconstruct, a psychiatrist does ... well, not entirely

clear what, but they must be doing SOMETHING!!! (Mustn't they?)

Now because of all that malpractice stuff, all doctors have been trained in

the graceful art of CYA (well theirs, not ours). So in order to " be sure " or

" eliminate certain more obscure possibilities " or the like, most

self-respecting and well-insured doctors order at least a " test " or two,

sometimes an entire " battery " of tests. (Has anyone ever else felt battered

after undergoing their tests? I certainly have.) Now we have all been

well-trained to desire the " correct " diagnosis, so that we may receive the

" best " available treatment. So we willingly let them poke and prod and

sometimes even slice and dice us, all in the name of " tests. "

At some point, the " test results come back. " (We know not from where. Has

anyone else ever wondered, just how do those test results get from one place

to another?) Of course, we are not properly " trained " and have no idea how

to read or interpret these test results, so we continue our journey into

utter dependency, asking the doctor " What does this mean? " And the doctor

offers some explanation, usually one that is only marginally comprehensible

to the " untrained " among us.

So that now that we " know what the problem is, " we eagerly await our

treatment plan. And of course that's when the fun really begins....

Unfortunately, the doctor gets paid irrespective of the results. For those

who enjoy Biblical references, we become " unequally yoked " (Amos 3:3 and

other references). We give up our sovereignty, our self-reliance, our

autonomy, and we voluntarily make ourselves dependent upon someone we don't

really know, working in a system we cannot possibly comprehend, with

terminology and gizmos we have never heard of, and who is incentivized NOT

by the results we realize, but rather by a series of steps required to move

funds from one place to another.

To be fair, I believe that many fine men and women enter the medical

profession with noble intentions. But these intentions are largely squashed

in the reprogramming centers called " medical schools. " And in any event,

even a doctor has to eat!

Okay, so why did I write all that? Gypsi, in the snippet I quoted above, you

used the term " bi-polar. " I hear this particular " diagnosis " being slung

like hash these days. I doubt whether anyone, even those selling this

diagnosis, actually knows what it means. If you look it up, you'll realize

that it sounds remarkably similar to a whole host of other, usually older,

diagnostic codes, and that at the same time it sounds sufficiently vague, so

that half the population might " have it. " You see, one strategy for keeping

" We, the People " in utter ignorance is to rename things continually. In

fact, that is how polio was " cured " or " eliminated. " (Another post) And

another strategy is to keep things sufficiently obscure, poorly or

nonspecifically defined, so that just about anyone could eventually have

just about anything. (Present-day statutory law works similarly, another

post only if people are interested, since it is a bit off-topic.)

I encourage you and everyone not to take these diagnoses very seriously. For

what we end up doing is labeling ourselves and one another in ways that can

only be dehumanizing and self-defeating. I have learned that I CANNOT fully

love, support, and encourage someone, nor hope to stand in his/her shoes, if

I have placed ANY label on that person. For every label comes from a limited

perspective and is based entirely on the past. And I can only be with you --

anyone -- now, in the present. This is the only time that is real for me.

Consider these alternatives: suppose you are feeling low, and feeling

tempted EITHER to eat cooked food OR to go shopping for a diagnosis ( " go to

the doctor " ). Honestly now, which alternative is likely to be less

destructive? I'm not encouraging anyone to eat cooked food, only reaching

for perspective, for depth of view.

So from where I stand, no one " is diabetic, " no one " is bi-polar, " no one

" has Candida, " and for heaven's sake NO child has ever been " hyperactive " or

ever " has ADD " (or any of its variances, ADHD, etc.) No one even " has a

cold " or " has the flu. " Rather, our body is simply, only, and always doing

what it is designed to do: monitor, cleanse, and replenish itself, all in a

brilliant response to the conditions WE create, using and relying ONLY upon

the vast innate intelligence that has been present from our moment of

conception and that is rooted in the most ancient biological experience.

No human being (or other creature) in the history of the planet has ever

suffered from a deficiency of aspirin, Ritalin, or any other drug. We do not

need to be " diagnosed, " " cured, " " treated, " prognosticated upon, or the

like. We require no labels in order to express ourselves fully, vibrantly,

and freely, in accordance with Nature's design.

Have a great day!

Elchanan
