Hi Lu,

I don't think is is off topic, Nutrition Data at

http://www.nutritiondata.com/ to me is the best place to get a good estimate

to what you are eatting, and the pantry function is the best part. I have

loaded my pantry with everything I eat that they have on the site, then it

takes just a minute to total a meal, a dish or a days worth of food,

Blessings,

A fresh date is one that puts his/her hands all over

you...

Oh...but, when it comes to fruit, a fresh date is one

that hasn't been dried. They are not dried to become

edible...they are already edible when ripened. I

suppose they are dried to make them easier to ship

without decaying/fermenting and to make them taste

like candy.

I'd imagine fresh dates are readily available in the

mediteranean, but rare in North America. I found some

in Toronto. It took me a while to recognize that they

were dates.

What's the difference between a dried and fresh date?

as far as I've

ever seen they only come one way, apparently dried and

ripened to

some degree so that they're edible.
