Guest guest
Hi Diana, Glad you are enjoying, Alissa's new book is indeed beautiful, well-written, full of wonderful recipes (though many are high-fat, and many are so-so food combined, definitely more for transitioning than for long-term sustained living.) One thing you might want to consider. Those things that last a few days, i.e., that have a longer " shelf life, " are precisely those things that digest less readily inside you. Freshness is a key component in nutrient vitality of foods. Just something to consider, what you are doing is already light years beyond 99% of the population! Alissa Cohen has a great book and DVD and Bryan is coming out with his new book Raw in Ten (minutes). So people prefer not to make recipes...but that's the way I find this way of eating fun! and delicious and am not tempted with cooked food. I like simple recipes that I can just whip up and that last in the fridge a couple of days for snacking on. I'm big on vegetable nut pate's that I can dip or roll in leaves. Diana of Dewberry Hill I am not good at making recipes. I like the simple and easy way and if that is not good, then I am in trouble. I have heard that people eat fruit for breakfast and lunch. My stomach would be screaming at me if I did that. I have the impression that the fatty raw foods help stay on my stomach longer and I don't get hungry as fast and then I wont eat so much all of the time. I am really having a rough time with staying 100% raw. Melba Mail - Easier than ever with enhanced search. Learn more.

Guest guest
Elchanan, I need the high fat from avos and nuts as I will get too thin otherwise and it gives me energy. My prepared food rarely lasts two days in the refrigerator...I eat it or share it! One thing I always try to do though is not combine fruits or vegetables. And I find the heavy " breads " and heavier sprouted grain items do not make me feel light and well, so I am eliminating them. Guest guest
Hi Diana, I agree that you do need whatever level of calories suits your size and activity level. But what I'm saying is that you are overeating fat calories and undereating carbohydrate calories. In the process, you are undereating ALL water-soluble nutrients. Eventually, this will lead to problems. (It may take awhile, but then so does cancer. But most diagnosable health problems arise over time, not overnight. Glad to hear you are eliminating the grains, they are chemically addictive, and they are the food of slaves. Guest guest
I don't eat grains, it would be like eating raw straw. Not much taste or appeal. For that matter I don't eat grass of any kind, like wheatgrass, etc., again, not much to them in terms of taste or appeal. Vegetables and fruits are much better tasting. Wheat is highly addictive too, just try to take away wheat from a SAD eater, they would kill before giving up their bread. rawfood , " INFO @ Vibrant Life " <VLinfo@e...> wrote: > Glad to hear you are eliminating the grains, they are chemically addictive, > and they are the food of slaves. > > Best, > Elchanan > > > Diana of Dewberry Hill [cozad76078] > Thursday, February 24, 2005 10:52 PM > rawfood > RE: [Raw Food] Recipes Make It a Pleasure/ was Two Months Raw > And I find the heavy " breads " and > heavier sprouted grain items do not make me feel light and well, so I am > eliminating them. > Blessings, > Diana of Dewberry Hill
