Greetings:

For all females and those who care about them.

I realize that this articles are not that of raw recipes, shopping or a raw

event to attend but do tie in to healthy eating habits. As a man, after reading

them, I have a totally new respect for women's issues and their well being and

thought this worthy to pass on to you.

Women=s Hormones, Health & Power

Article written by: Sherrill Sellman who is the author of best-selling book,

Hormone Heresy, What Women Must know about Their Hormones, and international

Lecturer and psychotherapist.

Four hundred years ago, Nostradamus, perhaps the most famous of all visionaries,

foresaw that the end of this millennium would usher in an unprecedented period

of history when the influence of the feminine would transform society. This

predicted ascendancy of the feminine would be responsible for not only

initiating a massive experience of human renewal but also a completely new

vision of how life can function.

Nostradamus also predicted that medical science would find ways of healing the

body through formerly misunderstood natural cycles. He revealed how the balance

of hormones in woman connects her with and aligns her to the Earth=s rhythms.

This return to return to the understanding of a woman=s cyclic nature is needed

in restore the magic of the feminine and the wisdom of her instinctual nature.

Nostradamus warned that only such a transformation could ensure humanity=s

survival.

So, as the new millennium begins, a massive awakening of women is required to

fulfill the promise of Nostradamus=s inspiration vision. Never before in history

have so many millions of women sacrificed their hormonal balance, thus

themselves, into the embrace of the embrace of medical science. Besides creating

devastating health problems which are only now coming to light, synthetic

hormones sd found replacement therapy have so altered women=s natural rhythms

that the connection to their inner sense of self has been seriously jeopardized.

Quite simply, tampering with a woman=s hormones is tampering with the heart and

soul of a woman. Regaining hormonal balance is prerequisite which enables a

woman to fully own and express her power.

Nature created a most intimate dance between the two main hormones in

a woman=s body, estrogen and progesterone, When in balance these two hormones

are responsible not only for a healthy reproductive system but also for many

other functions governing the health of all other systems of a woman=s body.

These include controlling growth, muscle building and regulating the digestive

system, the blood sugar levels, blood pressure and fluid balance. An on- going

sense of well being, emotional balance and alert mind are also profoundly

connected tothe proper flow of hormones.

A most vital fact which is rarely communicated to women is that is these

hormones when in form of oral contraceptives or HRT are not all natural

replacements but rather powerful steroid drugs which interfere with the body=s

ability to produce its own hormones.

Far from duplicating or supplementing nature=s hormones, the pill and HRT

introduce these powerful drugs into a healthy woman=s body predisposing her to

serious imbalances that were never designed by nature. Instead of a woman=s body

and psyche being in rhythm with nature=s cyclic rhythms, they tend to be more in

harmony with the dictates of the pharmaceutically created drugs.

So, just what are the effects of suppressing natural hormones with synthetic

ones? The pill literally stops menstruation and bleeding only occurs each month

because synthetic hormones are not taken for seven days of the cycle.

The bleeding that does happen would be more accurately termed withdrawal

bleeding , not menstruation. Taking the pill increases the risk of coronary

artery disease, breast and cervical cancer, high blood pressure, nutritional

deficiencies, strokes and infertility.

The increasing incidence of breast cancer in society coincides with increasing

use of oral contraceptives. As an estrogen sensitive organ, breast tissue is

easily stimulated by its cell proliferative effects. It is now recognized that

the earlier a young woman is put on the higher her chances of developing breast

cancer, the larger the tumor and the worse her prognosis.

Medical texts as well as product information sheets authoritatively announce

that menopausal women are suffering an Aestrogen deficiency@ disease as

menopausal ovaries are said to shrivel up and become useless.

Nothing could be further from the truth. To assign a disease status to menopause

which is a normal and natural transition in women=s life is arrogant and insult

to women.

During menopause estrogen only drops 40-60 percent while progesterone levels

drop to almost zero. After menopause the ovaries to function working in

conjunction with other body sites such as the adrenal glands, skin and body fat

to produce hormones.

However, the synthetic hormones, estrogen ND and progestins found in HRT, are

not natural hormones nor are they safe. The Physician=s Desk Reference actually

lists more than120 possible risks and side effects from them.

Taking HRT compromises the autonomic system and alters the development and

reactivity of blood vessels. All artificial hormones tend to cause biochemical

stress in the body. HRT users are more likely to have clots, less defense

against infections (lower white blood cell count, proliferation of viruses and

more hepatitis) and are able to deal with carcinogens due to impaired liver

function, compromised pancreas function, increased antibody levels and

allergies. Women on HRT were 50 percent more likely to develop adult onset

asthma.

In addition HRT is implicated in increased levels of blood fats, increased

adrenal stress hormones, lower zinc levels as well as folic acid and essential

fatty acid deficiencies.

What is even more alarming is that reproductive cancers may be triggered

anywhere from week to 40 years after exposure to sex hormones. A 20-year Harvard

study has shown that there is a 10 percent increased incidence of breast cancer

per year from HRT use. Studies are also showing a strong link with ovarian

cancer.

Menstrual disorders and hysterectomies are more common among contraceptive pill

and HRT users There is also an increase in endometriosis. Women on HRT had six

times more fibroids. Suicide or suspected suicide is up to five times higher and

only a few years on HRT increases melanomas two or three times. Candida also

increases.

Most natural therapies acknowledge that just about all of the symptoms for which

women are prescribed HRT could alleviated through proper diet and nutrition,

changes in lifestyle and exercise. In addition, research is now revealing that

women are really deficient in natural progesterone (not to be confused with

synthetic progestins).

Natural approaches as fond in naturopathy, homeopathy, Chinese medicine

chiropractic and herbalism have successfully assisted women in regaining

hormonal balance.

As we begin a new century, it appears that women are also finding a new sense of

self. As though awakening from a spell that medical science has cast upon them,

women are once again honoring their intuitive wisdom and returning to the

healing power of nature to reconnect them to their bodies, their power and

sprits.

The essential nature of a women is cyclical expressed by her monthly flow of

changing hormones, energies and emotions. It is time for the tying together of

all the threads that weave the magnificent tapestry of woman=s wholeness. Life

is beckoning women to return to balance for the sake of themselves, their future

generation and the planet
