Guest guest
Hi, this is my first post. I have just recently discovered raw/living foods. There are so many books out there on this that I just don't know where to start. Can any of you point me in the right direction? We have been mainly vegetarian for about a year. We have been eating a lot of pasta and have seen no weight loss. We are both overweight. Dh has a family history of heart attacks at a young age and has hbp and high chol now. He is on meds for all that. I have a family history of adult-on-set diabetes. We are always tired and just lack energy. We have 3 wonderful little girls ages 1 yr, 4 yrs, and 10 yrs. I don't want them growing up eating the junk that we grew up eating and now have a hard time breaking ourselves from. I want us to have the energy to do things with them! I think we made a good start with the vegetarian diet, but feel there is more. We all still eat candy, cookies, and other " junk " carbs. DH weighs around 260 and I weigh around 180. Any help is greatly appreciated. Tenesa
Guest guest
Tenesa, Go on Dr. Joel Fuhrman's program as outlined in his book Eat to Live. Follow it strictly for 6 weeks. You will lose weight for sure, and you will have more emergy. As you will see from his recipes, you don't have to eat all raw, but I would recommend eating as much raw as you can. You don't have to worry about counting calories and you can eat plenty of food. www.drfuhrman.com Mark - t_boerschlein rawfood Wednesday, January 12, 2005 8:01 AM [Raw Food] Need help getting started... Guest guest
Good luck Tenesa. Just remember it's hard at first while you are transitioning. But gets wonderful! Go easy on the kids. Get them to want to follow you and explore what you are eating. Let them help invent things to make, and help make them. You have such a wonderful adventure ahead of you. I went raw about four months ago. I'm pretty boring but I will tell you what works fo rme. I have a smoothie every morning with ground up raw almonds, blanched. (so not quite raw I understand, but no matter to me). Then add water and make milk. Then add banana chunks. Three bananas per person. then berries. At first I added flax oil but now I stopped. A goodly amount of nuts makes this filling, and it is delicious. Soon the children will be wanting some. Apples and nut butter is a good lunch. I'll let others tell their ideas. There are some reall gourmets on here. I'm more the simple and lazy type. By the way my weight is just melting away. Be sure not to let yourself get hungry in the beginning. Yours in health, Lane - t_boerschlein rawfood Wednesday, January 12, 2005 11:01 AM [Raw Food] Need help getting started... Hi, this is my first post. I have just recently discovered raw/living foods. Guest guest
That is a good suggestion. Also, there is a book out called Raw Family (I believe) about a Russian family that went completely raw together and cured all kinds of ailments. If you do a google search I'm sure you will have no trouble finding it. They have recipes too. swing --- Mark Hovila <hovila wrote: > Tenesa, > > Go on Dr. Joel Fuhrman's program as outlined in his > book Eat to Live.
