Hi folks

Whenever I ride BART, I usually try to bring a couple of leaflets with me to pass out to people when I'm waiting for the next train. People are typically receptive, as we're all just waiting around.

This last time, I got on a car that was pretty crowded, so I ended up asking one woman sitting alone if the empty seat next to her was available. After I sat down, I offered her a Why Vegan.

She accepted it, turned off her ipod, and told me she supports this. She then shared that she and a friend were talking about PETA. After that conversation, she looked it up online, watched videos on youtube, and stopped eating meat. Okay, so she did say that she eats fish occasionally, so she's not a vegetarian in the full sense of the word.

But, what struck me is that -- in this example -- someone (maybe PETA, maybe someone else) made video footage available on youtube that impacted this woman enough so that she drastically reduced the amount of animals she is eating.

Of all the cars on the train I could have picked, out of all the people on that train, and I sat next to a woman who was nearly fully vegetarian.

So, summer is approaching -- lots of great opportunities for outreach -- one of the biggest in San Francisco Pride. You'll be hearing more about that in the approaching weeks. For now, mark your calendars - 6/26 and 6/27 - and if you want to start learning more, stay tuned as we'll be posting periodic updates to our blog
