Guest guest
I have not read this specific book yet but here is a flyer that my wife and I made to protest earlier 'locavore'  and 'humane' meats events. I have a fuller article/talk I can send if you need more arguments of why 'locavore' and 'humane slaughter' are flawed ideas in the absence of veganism. Best of luck! Guest guest
Kudos to Rachel for taking this on, in addition to the parade today! Rachel, please let us know how it went. When doing outreach, one of the challenges is that most likely you're not getting direct feedback of how people are impacted or what changes happen based on what they've read. But I think it plants a seed, and as other information comes to that person that reinforces and nurtures that seedling for veg*nism, a new vegetarian or vegan will began to sprout. For me, the best is when people take a leaflet from you, and you actually see them open it and read it. I also wanted to put a plug-in for the Adopt a College program giving regular opportunities for leafleting - basically, you pick a college, you pick a time, and you leaflet! This is a Vegan Outreach program and it's been very successful because you're reaching an ideal target audience -- young adults who are often more receptive to change than older adults. I used to leaflet monthly at a college during my lunch hour (the Academy of Arts). In 20 minutes, I could distribute information to 100 people, and then I'd go back to my "real" work. I haven't been able to do this after some changes at work, but I hope to be able to start again in the near future (before the current semester ends). Thank you to everyone who is doing this important work of outreach to the public. I've got a variety of flyers, I'll be there at Book Passage, SF Ferry Bldg, 5:30 p.m. tonight. Anyone want to leaflet with me?-Rachel D. , "rachel4veggies" <racheldonovan wrote:>> Thanks for the tip, Tammy. > > It does sound like the perfect opportunity to leaflet. People attending will be doing so because they have some inkling that something is wrong. And some of them may be ready to make some changes. I'm sure that very few will have read the book already and been exposed to the idea that "humane meats" (oxymoron) is the answer. So we can head them off at the pass with some great leaflets that explain why "going vegan" is a much better answer!> > I plan to be there at 5:30 p.m. with "Why Vegan" and "Even if You Like Meat" leaflets from Vegan Outreach.
