Guest guest
If you feel you need to comply with her wishes, buy (or have her buy) her own cookware, cooking utensils, plate, bowl, silverware, and most importantly SPONGES and store everything separately. If you have a garage with a sink, have her wash the dead animal remains into the garage sink. Keep separate trash can also for bones/scraps so you don't have to smell it in the house. Over the years, I have very rarely allowed someone to eat meat in my house. They have never been allowed to cook raw meat in my house with my pots/pans. I had a teen living in my house for 5 months (escaping an abusive home life). He surrendered to only cooking veg in the house. I occasionally agreed to him bringing in pre-cooked meat (frozen pizzas with pepperoni, microwaved meals, etc...) but it's only pre-cooked or microwaveable, never raw. I have a separate set of dishes and utensils for eat-meaters (which I very rarely use...less than once a year for pre-cooked foods). I never, EVER let meat touch my sponges. Ever. It's so disgusting I want to barf just typing this. It's really hard to have an eat meater living in the house. I felt I had to " give in " to his addiction. He's 18 and autistic and from a heavy meat-eating cultural background. When he moved out, I gave him all the meat dishes/cookware he used. Good luck. Guest guest
John, I agree that the MIL is inconsiderate, but honestly - if Rose's husband doesn't have the cojones to tell his Mom to knock it off there is a bigger problem here. Guest guest
I'm sure there is a nice hotel she can stay at with a kitchenette that she can use to do whatever she wants. I know it's expensive, but it's either that or do not cook meat in your home or don't come at all.
