Guest guest
I'm physically ill every time she visits. She comes all the way from Scotland once or twice a year for a month long visit. I've sent her the link to the Earthlings video and a link to a doctor who states that vegetarians cannot digest meat. I even go as far as providing her with precooked meat. What else can I do or say? Her latest compromise is to buy her own skillet and cooking utensils so I don't get sick when she cooks here. But she seems to care nothing for my mental state. I told her farm animals have as much right to live as dogs and cats. If there is no solution, how do I live with her in peace? Thank you for listening, Rose
Guest guest
What does your partner have to say about this? Guest guest
Warren, My partner feels his mother is being disrespectful and dismissive. He confronted her during her last visit, which is when she finally said she believes I get sick when she cooks meat here. Wintersol, I admire your patience. I'm going to do the things you suggested, giving her a drawer in the fridge and separate containers for all her stuff. Because I just saw Earthlings, my imagination replaces raw meat with images from the movie. Maybe the effect will be tolerable by the time she next visits. I became vegetarian seven years ago after seeing a similar program on VeganTV. Back then it took about a month for my brain to return to normal. Guest guest
Rose, I think it's really ill-mannered and impolite of her to impose her meat-cooking on you in YOUR home. Would she NOT cook meat if you visited HER home? My omni/carnivore guests (including mother-in-law) have always respected my meat-free choice and go out when they need to devour an animal. I would be very firm, polite but not apologetic, about this issue. If she can't show respect for you, how can you return it? John rlacy853 wrote: Â I'm physically ill every time she visits.
