Background on Civic Center campaign:

Since April of last year, LGBT Compassion and AoC have filed

complaints and taken legal measures against bird vendors exercising

animal cruelty,

while monitoring their activities.

Civic

Center has been a challenge, particularly with the primary vendor,

Raymond Young Poultry, but we have been able to get media attention on this issue,

as well as have impact on other bird vendors acting outside the law.

Because of the lack of action on the city's part against this animal

cruelty, we are successfully amplifying attention with peaceful demonstrations.

CAMPAIGN UPDATE:

We

have just completed our latest demonstration on Wednesday, the 24st of

March, which was our first weekday demonstration at the market.

Even with our small advocate number, Wednesday, we were able to get Market management's notice,

as

well as distribute a sizable number of pamphlets. Once again, vendors

expressed their support, and many patrons thanked us for our advocacy.

Demonstrations have been particularly successful for the last few weeks, as we have distributed nearly 1,500 leaflets.

YOU ARE WELCOME TO JOIN OUR EVENTS!

We are pleased with our effectiveness but it would contribute to have more advocates join us at this event.

We could use your help.

We've

been

able to get market attention and make a statement with our small group

(we certainly have been noticed!),

but we need more people if we want this

to be an

effective campaign.

For further info on this campaign, please refer to LGBT Compassion.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you.
