Guest guest
Yesterday I finally poked my head into Lehr's German Specialties at 1581 Church St (between 28th St & Duncan St). Much to my excitement, I found Lehr's is well-stocked with my favorite " accidentally vegan " Rider Sport Dark Chocolate with Marzipan candy bars (for $2.50 each) AND 2 very good selections of vegan candies for Easter! I just started a blog so I can display pics of my accidental vegan finds. You can see pics of the Easter stuff here: http://anfinds.blogspot.com/2010/03/accidentally-vegan-easter-finds.html Also ... note that Lehr's is a German specialty shop, with a wide variety of sausages and all of that. So first of all, you have to be willing to go into a place like that if you want to try this. And second of all ... I wouldn't go in asking the people behind the counter, " Where I can find the vegan Easter candies? " I wouldn't be surprised if they have no idea what vegan is ... so I suggest doing as I did, just go in and start poking around on your own, flipping every package to look at ingredients. I think I found some vegan potato pancakes mixes as well, although I didn't have time to fully investigate. The Easter stuff was sort of in the middle of the store, a little bit past the cash register, which is on the RIGHT-HAND side of the store as you walk in. I noticed the sausages were mainly on the LEFT-HAND side of the store toward the front, so steer clear of that area if you don't want to see that. -Rachel D.
