Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I bought some white mushrooms at Safeway recently and noticed the label said, "now with 100% vitamin D". Since mushrooms don't naturally have anywhere near 100% of the daily requirement of vitamin D, does anyone know how they add it, and from what source? Meanwhile, I think I'll steer clear of those particular mushrooms. Thanks! Susan

This was intriguing to me, so I googled " Vitamin D Mushrooms " and found this article from 2006. It says the process is experimental, but I guess in the past 4 years it's become a practice. The Vitamin D comes from zapping with ultra violet light. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12370708/ Karen
