Guest guest
Check out this site for lots of info on veganism, organic farming, community and more. http://sharan-india.org/ SHARAN stands for Sanctuary for Health and Reconnection to Animals and Nature. I learned about this organization (in Mumbia) from the PCRM 21-day Vegan Kickstart program. You can sign up for their email newsletter full of good vegan, environmental, and health-related info. If you like Indian food, there's a ton of recipes at http://sharan-india.org/vegan-recipes/ Note: Some ingredients are not available so you may need to substitute. I wrote and asked what a " drumstick " was in one of the recipes, and got a personal reply from Dr. Nandita Shah: it's a nutritious fruit that is not available here. Dr. Shah also told me that there are internship opportunities at the organization for people from abroad. Guest guest
Donna,Drumstick is available in US for purchase in most Indian grocery stores fresh or in frozen format. I am not sure why it got the name drumstick, may be it looks like a drumstick :-). The drumstick greens are not available here at least that I know of, they are very rich in protein, iron and potassium. The botanical name for drumstick is "moringa oleifera". The origin is of Tamil, where its called Muringa.Hope this helpsRajintheveganhood <govegan Sent: Wed, January 27, 2010 7:17:20 PM Flavors of India Check out this site for lots of info on veganism, organic farming, community and more. http://sharan-india.org/SHARAN stands for Sanctuary for Health and Reconnection to Animals and Nature.
