Amy,You've gotten some very good advice from othersand I thought I'd chime in on a different note. How about the DIY option? (DIY = do it yourself).Rather than feeling subject to the non-vegan whims ofthe commercial corporate shoe makers how about ifyou take your current comfortable vegan shoesand add 3 inches to the bottom YOURSELF?!I'm not sure what would be necessary to do thisbut some kind of improvisation and creativity should do the trick.I'm imagining a piece of wood 3" high affixed to the shoe with screws(inset so you wouldn't feel them, of course)or fastened more temporarily with duct tape?It may not be stylish but it would work and youwould have the satisfaction of conquering this challengeall by yourself (or with a little help from your friends)!Another idea (out of the box) is to wear another Cam Walkeron your other foot! That sounds right to me. :)Good luck!Jon> I broke my foot. My doctor put me in a Cam Walker (or Walking Boot).> The boot is almost 3" off the ground. When I wear it with my current shoes> (vegan), that makes one leg about 3" shorter than the other and I'm blowing > out my knee, my hips, etc...walking with one leg shorter than the other.> ...> If I use the cam walker and can't find proper shoes, I ruin my knee and hips.>> What would you do?

When i fractured some bones in my right foot and was in a walking boot onthat foot, I wore another non-leather boot that I had purchased at PaylessShoe source on left leg and was comfortable as possible under the

inconvenient circumstances of having a foot fracture. Some vegans may not behappy with Payless for the potential use of animal based glue, but for me itwas a relatively easy solution. It's hard to have a fractured foot, best

wishes with your healing and as much as there is controversy about calciumintake and fractures, I would still recommend making sure you get vegansources of calcium, take a vitamin D supplement and make sure that you work

gently but consistently on physical therapy once you've healed to gain backyour strength.Best wishes,Jina
