Guest guest
100,000 spectators are expected to watch the Oakland Holiday parade next Saturday, December 5. Local animal advocates will take the opportunity to leaflet parade goers asking them not to wear fur, leather, or wool. We'll have leaflets and will also be giving out candy canes to the crowd with tags that read, " Be sweet to animals: Don't wear fur, leather, or wool. " Please join us! When: Saturday, December 5. Meet at 12:45. We will depart around 1 p.m. to walk along the sidewalk and leaflet the crowd. The parade starts at 2 p.m. Where: Meet at the Southeast corner of 10th Street and Broadway in downtown Oakland. We will walk along Broadway to 20th Street. The 12th Street/Oakland City Center BART is just two blocks away. Attire: As we're asking people not to wear fur, leather, or wool, please don't either! If you have a Santa hat or other cruelty-free and festive holiday gear, please wear it. We're also seeking one high energy volunteer to wear a fox costume. If you have any questions or would like to RSVP, please email me at Kristie Phelps or KristieP. Please RSVP if you plan to attend so we know to expect you. For information on why we're asking people not to wear animals' skins, please visit www.peta.org/Whoseskin/index.asp.
