Guest guest
Hello fellow animal lovers, If you're interested in animal welfare in San Francisco and Bay Area shelters -- and especially in light of the announcement that Jan McHugh-Smith (currently SF/SPCA President) will not be renewing her contract (which expires in March, 2010) (http://www.sfspca.org/about-us/press/press-releases/san-francisco-spca-president-jan-mchugh-smith-announces-departure) -- please keep reading: There have been several very interesting articles about this issue in the Northside (local newspaper in the Northern part of San Francisco) which make for essential reading for people who care about animals in San Francisco. We are working very hard to ensure that San Francisco enacts legislation so that San Francisco can officially become what it ALMOST was about ten years ago: a NO-KILL city, where all SAVABLE (not just " adoptable " but SAVABLE) animals are taken in by SF shelters and rescue groups, treated for medical and/or behavior issues, and adopted into wonderful " forever " homes. Here are the articles: September: http://www.northsidesf.com/sep09/features_coverstory.html, http://www.northsidesf.com/sep09/features_eastbayspca.html, http://www.northsidesf.com/sep09/features_wherearetheynow.html October: http://www.northsidesf.com/oct09/op_editorsnote.html November: http://www.northsidesf.com/nov09/op_editorsnote.html San Francisco No-Kill Movement: http://www.fixsanfrancisco.org/home/ Thanks for taking the time to read these articles -- the animals of San Francisco deserve your time and attention, and I hope you will do what you can to get involved in order to help improve the lives of animals in our city of St. Francis. Thank you! Nadine May
