(People for Animal Liberation) to protest the sale of foie gras at Cyrus restaurant in Healdsburg! Before the Cyrus demonstration against their serving foie gras, TODAY (Friday), 13 Nov, activists are going to meet in front of "Dry Creek Kitchen" at 5:30pm to give the manager Dan a card & a box of Vegan chocolates & a card for his compassionate care on removing foie gras from the menu. We would like people to sign the card. "Dry Creek" is at 317 Healdsburg Ave.Then activists will then go to "Cyrus" ( 29 North Street, Healdsburg ) for a foie gras demo to get them to remove foie gras from their menu. We'll be there this afternoon (Friday), 13 Nov from 5:45pm til 7:30pm. Please dress warmly. Activists will return on Sat night (14 Nov) from 5:30pm 'till 7:30pm.On Saturday, 14 Nov, at 2:00pm is the P.A.L. The Healdsburg is an up and coming region in the Napa Valley, so we expect a good amount of foot traffic. Foie gras, French for "fatty liver," made from the grotesquely enlarged livers of male ducks and geese. Birds are kept in tiny wire cages or packed in sheds, covered in their own filth.Two or three times every day, workers shove long inflexible pipes down the ducks' throats. They pump up to 4 pounds of grain and fat into their stomachs; the equivalent of about 28 pounds of spaghetti in a human being.The pipes puncture many birds' throats, sometimes causing them to bleed to death. This cruel procedure diseases the birds' livers,swelling them up to 10 times their normal size. Many birds become too sick to stand up.
