LAST CALL: SF DeClaw Ban Needs More Calls/Emails to SF Board of Supervisors

URGENT CALL to all of you who care about animals:

If you haven't yet written/called/emailed the San Francisco supervisors to ask them to support the proposed declaw BAN, please take a minute and do so now. The email address of the 5 supes who are "on the fence" on the ban are below. A short, polite email is enough -- no need to go into detail, just tell them simply why you think this ban is so important for San Francisco and its cats. And please forward to anyone in San Francisco (or the Bay Area) who would be willing to write an email. SF residents especially needed. Thank you all so much!

Hi everyone,

Per e-mail below, the five supervisors who haven't taken a position on the declaw ban are Alioto-Pier, David Chiu, Carmen Chu, Elsbernd, and Maxwell. She's also asking people to contact Gavin Newsom. The e-mail addresses are listed below.

I met someone at the HSUS town hall meeting evening in SF who was telling me that some of the SF Board of Supervisors are on the fence about the SF Ban on Cat Declawing. I know you all aren't in SF but I think that the more calls and emails these individuals get is important even if they are from residents not in SF.

Here's the information I got from my contact:

The declaw ban was passed unanimously out of Committee on Monday10/26. It goes before the full SF Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, 11/3. This meeting starts at 2pm. Unfortunately there is no public comment at supervisors meetings.We currently have the support of six members of the Board: Mar, Mirkarimi, Daly, Campos, Dufty and Avalos. The five who haven't taken a position are Alioto-Pier, David Chiu, Carmen Chu, Elsbernd, and Maxwell. We're also asking people to contact the Mayor's office as well.

Please email the supervisors and Mayor and let others know.
