Guest guest
Dear Group, This was in the 10/23 Montclarion. 7 severely abused/tortured kittens were rescued from the home of LaPreda Thomas. The article (by Martin Snapp) goes into detail about 2 of them, adorable orange tabby Oliver and black Choco. Oliver had 2 broken legs, was severely malnourished/starving (there was only KITTY LITTER in his stomach) + had pneumonia. He was near death for weeks. Choco had his right eye completely gouged out. Choco shocked veterinarian Devin Johnson- due to the shape of a cat's head, only very SEVERE trauma could have caused the injury. When held, Dr. Johnson said Choco would keep still, as if, if he was " good " may he would not be hurt. Both kittens have recovered AMAZINGLY well- physically and in spirit!! Montclair Vet Hosp. Pet/Wildlife Fund + Island Cat Resource and Adoption (ICRA) paid for their med. expenses ($2,876 for Oliver and $1,287 for Choco, and this does not count the vet services Montclair provided free of charge). Pls help in any way you can and show that our community values and supports what Montclair and ICRA do for abused animals. Any amount will help. Please send a check in any amount to Montclair Vet Hosp. Pet/Wildlife Fund: 1961 Mountain Blvd. Oak CA 94611 (for more info on them you can go to petandwildlifefund.org) and/or ICRA, P.O. Box 1093, Alameda, CA 94501 (more info on them at icraeastbayorg). The article does not say what the status of the other kittens is. It does say that LaPreda Thomas is due in court today to face felony animal cruelty charges, which the article says encompasses torture dating back to 2006. Also, Letter to the Montclarion, thanking them for carrying this story would also be great! ccnmontclarion Thanks for any help at all you can provide.
