A friend of mine manages the DeLano's supermarket at 4201 18th street in the Castro and told me they are now carrying a line of clearly marked vegan and vegetarian "grab and go" meals in their prepared food section from a company called Meals for Change. They only make vegan and vegetarian meals and they use 100% of their revenue to support non profit nutritional and Job training programs.

He said they are trying this line out and if it sells well they will continue to sell it so if you are in the neighborhood check it out.

I think it's a great sign that a very conventional supermarket is looking to specifically try out vegan and vegetarian meals. That shows that they recognize there is a market for it.

The Castro Delano is the only one carrying these meals

I called the 18th Ave and Mission market and they don't have it

Rainbow for months has been carrying Souley Vegan Meals. The price is around

$10 per meal, but not selling as well cause the price is high. (Souley Vegan

has to pay for gas and bridge toll to make the personal delivers)
