Hi All!

The Great Ape Protection Act (GAPA) seeks to phase out the use of chimpanzees in

invasive research in the United States, retire the approximately 500 federally

owned chimpanzees to permanent sanctuary, and make the recent National

Institutes of Health decision to end breeding on federally owned chimpanzees

statutory. Among these chimps are 26 elders who were taken decades ago from the

wild. It's time to give these animals the sanctuary they deserve.

If you live in Congresswoman Jackie Speier's District (California's District 12,

see map here: http://speier.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=53 & sectiontree=53),

you are especially needed to write letters in support of GAPA. We will be having

a letter writing party on Monday, Sept. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the meeting room

of the Daly City Public Library’s Serramonte Branch Library, 40 Wembley Drive in

Daly City. We especially need people in Speier's district but EVERYONE is

welcome! Letter writing supplies will be provided (and maybe some delicious

vegan cupcakes if you're lucky!). All you have to do is show up! If you need

further details or directions, people can call me (Laura) at 415-832-9113.

Thank you so much for reading this and I hope to see you on Monday, Sept 28th!

Best,

Laura
