Guest guest
Please read this, make a phone call (to Leland Yee if you're in SF, or your own state senator, if you're not), send an email, and then forward to everyone you know who cares about animals, as soon as possible. I just called, it took less than a minute, and the person answering the phone didn't even ask for my name! (Please go to this website if you don't know who your state senator is: https://secure2.convio.net/aspca/site/Advocacy?alertId=2593 & pg=makeACall & JServSessionIdr001=6bntoc8pa1.app224b) Please do this ASAP. Thank you!! August 25, 2009 California Senate Voting Soon on Puppy Mill Bill Dear Nadine, Puppy mills are commercial facilities that mass-produce puppies for sale in pet stores, over the Internet, and directly to the public. Dogs are stacked in filthy wire cages, often with no veterinary care or human interaction, and they are treated not like pets but like a cash crop. Mother dogs are constantly bred and kept in continuous confinement. They are destroyed or discarded when they can no longer churn out puppies. Fortunately, legislation to crack down on this cruel industry is moving through the California legislature. A.B. 241, which would limit the number of dogs at a puppy mill, already passed the Assembly. Your help is urgently needed to get this bill through the California Senate. Your state senator will vote on this bill as early as Thursday, August 27. It is critical that your state senator, Leland Yee , hear from constituents like you who support A.B. 241. TAKE ACTIONPlease make a brief, polite phone call to Senator Leland Y. Yee (916) 651-4008 to urge support for A.B. 241. Remember to leave your name and address so it is clear that you are a constituent. You can say: "Hello, my name is [your name] and I am calling from [your town] to urge [senator's name] to support A.B. 241, legislation to crack down on puppy mills. This legislation already passed the Assembly, and I hope the Senate acts soon. As a constituent, I am very concerned about protecting animals from cruelty. Please vote 'YES' on A.B. 241, which will limit the size of puppy mills. Thank you." After you make your call, please send a follow-up message to your senator in support of this legislation. Thank you for all you do for animals!
