PETA trying to make fat people hate themselves?

This billboard is untrue and offensive:

As a fat vegetarian and sometimes vegan, PETA just lost me. Given the

experiences of most fat people I know, associations between them and elephants,

whales, and hippos quite literally counts as hate speech.

 

But why am I claiming that the weight loss claim is untrue? Because any study of

veg*ism is going to have a self selected sample and everything else I know about

the science behind weight loss doesn't support such claims.
