"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God."

Please join LGBTcompassion.org and friends in protesting cruelty to chickens, ducks, quail and pheasants at a small church's parking lot on Sunday, 9:30-11:30 at Good Hope Baptist Church, 551 Nevada St. (at Peralta Ave.), Glen Park area, S.F. (one block west of the 100 Alemany Blvd. farmers' market lot). Street parking is easy. It's about 1.25 miles from the Glen Park BART station.

We'll be reaching out to the church's congregation as they arrive, politely asking them to ask the Rev. to stop providing the church's parking lot for animal cruelty activities. Flyers and a few signs will be provided. We won't actually have to witness cruelty, as the vendor is only there during the farmers' market on Saturdays.

It may be a good idea to dress nicely/conservatively, as the church-goers will likely also be dressed. Also, during these live market protests, please don't acknowledge or discuss any issues of culture or ethnicity. That's just an attempt to distract from the real issue of illegal animal cruelty.

I really expect that it won't take much to stop this particular vendor - I can't imagine a small church will withstand continued protests, and many animals will suffer less, and egg factories will lose an economical and convenient outlet for their "spent" hens.

For more information on these live poultry markets, please visit www.LGBTcompassion.org/livemarkets.

Note that these markets are also apparently selling "balut" - eggs with embryos inside (some almost fully developed), which are cooked alive as a delicacy.

We're also going to soon begin protests at the U.N. Plaza market early Wednesdays and Sundays.

Please RSVP by email to me, and let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
