This just got posted on craigslist.

Reads like a great eatery. And I don't

think it's on the BAV list or at happycow.

Enjoy. -Harrison

Parea Wine Bar and Cafe needs a creative part-time cook. We have a primarily

vegetarian/vegan menu. This position will entail three set shifts per week,

Tuesday , Wednesday and Thursday evenings - shifts are approximately 8 to 10

hours. You must be able to work these night, and you must be able to fill in on

other nights from time to time when other kitchen staff are sick, out of town,

etc. We serve food until 11:30 during the week and until 12:00 on the weekend

nights, so you must be able to work late (the kitchen person usually finishes

about a half an hour after we stop serving food). Duties will include some food

prep and line cooking (however, we do not have a hood or a grill, so this

position consists more of preparing and plating cold items such as meat and

cheese plates, salads, appetizers, desserts, etc.) Desired qualifications - some

prep and line cooking experience, ability to work quickly and efficiently in a

small work space, creative and passionate about cooking, attention to detail,

organized and self-motivated, clean work practices and appearance, ability to

communicate in English. Experience working with Mediterranean cuisine a plus.

Would most likely not include this in the Ultimate Guide since it's not particularly vegan and there's lots of wine & cheese type places, anyways. Nothing really special about this one.

Harrison, as you can see from the responses to your post, most on the list aren't really impressed by this definitely not-vegan wine bar .. As you felt strongly enough about this place to post twice in two days (calling it a "vegan wine bar" in the 2nd post, although it serves meat), wondering if you have any additional insight or connection/relationship with this restaurant that makes it more worthy of attention from the veg community??

There are some truly vegan restaurants in the Mission area -- Cha Ya and Herbivore, and of course the entirely vegetarian Udupi, which has many vegan choices.

Cheers,

Tammy
