Hello Bay Area activists!I'm writing again to let you know about the launch of a new vegan summer camp for young people interested in making a difference in the world -- either for animal rights or for another issue of importance to them. We are still looking for more youth to attend. Do you know any 11-15 year olds who might be interested? Can you help publicize by forwarding the announcement below, or printing out and distributing one of our flyers? (One flyer highlights the fact that the camp is vegan -- that flyer is for veg restaurants or events; the other is our standard flyer and highlights the activist focus of the camp.)

Please see the description below, and let me know if you have any questions or would like to get involved or help in any way.Thank you!NoraWe are thrilled about the launch of Youth Empowered Action Camp (YEA!), a summer camp for young people ages 11 to 15 who are interested in

activism and social change. Campers at YEA will choose an issue of

importance to them, share about why they care so much about it, and

practice thinking strategically about how to address it. Youth will

learn valuable communications, leadership, and campaign skills during

this five-day camp in the Santa Cruz mountains. They will leave with a

thoughtful plan of action to help animals and a supportive community of

peers and mentors to help make it happen.

What: Youth Empowered Action Summer Camp

When: Monday, August 17, to Friday, August 21

Where: Quaker Center in Ben Lomond, Calif., just outside Santa Cruz

The camp is $750, though scholarships are available for those who

cannot afford this -- just ask! The cost includes comfortable cabin lodging, delicious

and mostly organic vegan food, all activities and workshops, a highly

experienced adult staff at a phenomenal camper-to-staff ratio of 3:1,

and inclusion in a post-camp mentoring program. For more information on

YEA  Camp, please visit www.yeacamp.org.  For more details, please contact info, or call (415) 449-1915.
