Guest guest
Hello Amy Lynn, If you have access to a printer, L.O.V.E. has B & W pamphlets that are you are welcome to download ( http://loveallbeings.orgLOVE-Vegan-Pamphlet.pdf ), print and distribute any way you see fit. Dairy and eggs are highlighted and there is a strong vegan message. As well, given that we are in a time when free-range, sustainable animal products are becoming increasingly popular, you may appreciate the pamphlet's focus on the exploitation of animals rather than on factory farms. As has been discussed on this list recently, advocacy that focuses on factory farms very naturally leads people to conclude that eating non-factory farm animal products is okay (and it is, if the objection is to factory farms). Pamphlets can be a great way to start conversations about veganism and these conversations tend to be framed by the content of the pamphlet, so I think it's worth taking some time to find a pamphlet that matches your reasons for being vegan rather than use whatever is available simply because it also happens to be about abstaining from animal products. I know in my own advocacy using material that is true to my veganism has meant a shift from having frustrating conversations to having productive ones. Best wishes for your advocacy at Mount Madonna! Victor ---- i've been staying at mount madonna for a while in a work study program (exhausting) and will be there another month. the community practices Astanga Yoga and the main precept in non-violence so they are vegetarian. however, there are very few vegans. vegan food is offered during all meals and many guests are vegan but community residents (especially old timers) are not. if you have any why vegans laying around ...or what's wrong with dairy? what's wrong with eggs? (anything on eggs/dairy) that you no longer want, please mail it to me at mount madonna. consider it karma yoga. -- Veganism as Anti-Oppression: http://loveallbeings.org/
Guest guest
Amy, One of my favorite flyers is the What's Wrong with Dairy & Eggs flyer by Action for Animals. You can find their literature here: https://store.afa-online.org/home.php?cat=284 I tried to order a set of 50 of their flyers sent to you, but they had a minimum order of $10.00, so I sent you some other flyers as well. What's Wrong with Dairy & Eggs (50) Free-Range Myth (50) Protecting Your Bones (50) What's Wrong with Wool, Leather, Down & Silk? (50) I also sent some What's Wrong with Dairy and The Truth about Chickens flyers from PETA, so be on the lookout. -Rachel D.
