Hi all

In many ways, the Bay Arae Vegetarians 4th of July sand-n-surf picnic has become a reunion of our extended veg family. It was great to catch up with people that I hadn't seen recently (some in a few years), meet so many new people, as well as people that so far I'd only met via email. Two of the families that attended last year also returned, and the babies were now toddlers. I met two people who shared they were planning to open vegan businesses (a vegan bakery, different, I think from the one Kim mentioned, as well as a vegan food truck)

I can truly see the influence that the recent splurge of vegan cookbooks, like Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World, have had. Just recapping the cupcakes, Mila had cupcakes frosted in a 4th of July theme, Karen also created mini cupcakes using fruit for a 4th of July theme (with a delicious bite of homemade jam inside), Lisa had lemon cupcakes with chocolate chips, Andrea's frosted cupcakes were then rolled in coconut flakes .. and there were other baked items too .. Andrew had apple pecan muffins, Shannon brought zucchini bread, Warren had chocolate mint brownies ... I have a hunch there may have been 1 or 2 other baked items that I'm not recalling too (I'm doing this all from memory, and I didn't try everything -- there was simply too much)

Enjoy the photos!! Oh, and the photos of the food were captured at 1:30, and there were lots of new arrivals afterwards.

Sorry to have missed this, sounds like it was a good time -- I posted

here looking for a ride from SF, but no one responded.
