Letter Writing Party - Healthy School Lunch Campaign

Hey guys!We just posted a new BAVeg event--a letter writing gathering for Saturday, July 25th from 11:00AM to noon. Please join other BAVeg members and support The Healthy School Lunch Campaign,

sponsored by Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). We will be writing letters to congress asking them to help schools provide vegetables, fruits,

grains, legumes, vegetarian foods, and healthful non-dairy beverages in

school meal programs in The Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act

of 2009.

If you are a constituent of the 9th congressional district of California (Barbara Lee's district), we invite you to meet at the Hudson Bay Cafe (5401 College Ave in Oakland) to write

letters to representative Barbara Lee asking for healthier school

lunch options in the National School Lunch Program.

 

The NSLP feeds 28 million students a day, and the fact that we are

feeding these kids high-calorie nutrient-deficient foods that

contribute to heart disease, diabetes, and other diseases tied to diet

is simply unacceptable.  We are calling on congress to help our schools provide healthy vegetarian choices.

 

Paper, Pens, Envelopes, and Sample Letters will be provided at the

event. All we're asking you to do is show up and donate an hour of your

time to help this important cause!
