Guest guest
A week ago Kristie had a great idea--let's hand out some free veggie dogs with veggie literature on the 4th of July. She made a couple of calls, sent a couple of e-mails, divided up the task list and shopping list, and voila. A great demo was born. A friend in San Francisco let us use her kitchen to cook and wrap 400 dogs, and put in coolers with heating towels. Then we dashed over to Pier 39. All 400 dogs were given out in less than 45 minutes!! It was crazy! We got lots of comments like, "Wow, I didn't think I would like this but it's really good!" and, "Oh, yes, I'll take one...I've been meaning to try vegetarian...thanks for being out here!"Thanks to Kristie for making it happen. And thank you Emerald, Mark, Jaci, Adam, Michelle and Henry for helping. We were done by 1:00 and ready to enjoy our holiday. I got in trouble with a few people who would have helped, had they known about it. I thought we had publicized it enough (Facebook, BAV, etc), but in the post-Pride madness I guess I didn't. I'm really sorry. Next event I'll do better! This demo was ridiculously easy. No city permits, no meetings beforehand, etc. All it takes is one person to make the date, then make it happen. If you want to do a veggie dog give-away in your part of the Bay Area, let me know and I'll give you the details from ours. Don't wait for someone else to plan something. There's so much talk about going vegan in the news these days...people are ready to receive a leaflet from you and change their diet, if you get out there!Alex
