Guest guest
Thanks Anne, I actually brought up adoption in my post. I think it's an excellent solution for people wanting children. And just like non-human animals, there are lots and lots of children out there waiting to be adopted so to me it just doesn't make sense to create more animals, human or otherwise, when there are already so many here. I'm a little surprised that this debate seems to be "raise biological children" or "don't raise children at all". As someone who's raised more children than I've given birth to, I don't understand why the options of adoption or fostering are just being ignored. (well, there was one dismissive mention of adoption, which is apparently not as good as adopting a pet.) I know of couples, straight and gay, who have decided to have no biological children and go through the adoption process instead. I know of others who have fostered, and veg*n foster parents are something badly needed, IMO.
