Guest guest
The circus comes to the bay area so I wanted to share this unbelievable propaganda letter from Brooklyn council member Domenic Recchia to whom I sent a letter protesting Ringling performing on Coney island (I visit and have family in New York) I'm not sure it would be worth my while to send a response, but maybe I'll just send the PETA link to the undercover abuse video. First, the mayor allowed canned hunts, now this - I'm ashamed of New York. Anyway, this is what the animals are up against everywhere. Ringling, Carson and Barnes ...Thanks Pat and everyone for coordinating the circus protests in the Bay Area! I appreciate your passion, and can assure you that the animals in this circus are treated with the utmost care. I have thoroughly researched Ringling Brothers' animal care policies and procedures, and found that they are committed to the highest standards, and provide their animals with veterinary care, nutritious meals and a clean, safe environment. Circuses, such as Ringling Brothers, provide unique opportunities for families and communities to learn about people and animals from cultures around the world. Independent studies have shown that the public display of animals contributes to the heightened public awareness of the animals, and responsibility for their well-being. I am pleased to support Ringling Brothers as a longtime leader in the care and safety of the endangered Asian elephant species. Ringling Brothers Circus is a diligent advocate in the quest for proper animal treatment and I hope this response can offer you comfort in that knowledge. Thank you again for your concern. Sincerely, Domenic M. Recchia, Jr. Council Member, 47th District
