Somewhat last minute, I know, but it will definitely be an interesting presentation, so all are welcome to attend this talk on the No-Kill policy.

One other reminder:Please join FixSanFrancisco.org Thursday evening for a special presentation on No-Kill in animal shelters at the ANIMAL WELFARE COMMISSION meeting (at City Hall). FixSanFrancisco organized this presentation. Gregory Castle, a founder of Best Friends Animal Society, travels from Utah to present a discussion of No-Kill policy and "real life" implementation to San Francisco's Animal Control and Welfare Commission.Best Friends Animal Society offers info, assistance, and training to create No-Kill communities. The Society also provides adoption services, disaster response, and a sanctuary for animals with special needs that make it difficult for them to find a permanent home. www.bestfriends.orgNo-Kill policies ensure no adoptable animal is euthanized in shelters. The definition of adoptable under No-Kill includes animals requiring medical and behavioral intervention but would be adoptable following treatment.Friends of Roman Cats will also be recommending the Board of Supervisors ban the practice of declawing cats, a cruel operation involving the amputation of toe bones.General meeting discussion includes best use of the No-Kill information presented over the past few months to improve shelters in San Francisco.Public comment is welcome on these specific items and in general at the beginning and ending of the meeting. The Animal Welfare Commission agenda is available online at http://www.sfgov.org/site/awcc_page.asp?id=105881.
