Hi.  I just got this.  If you can, please take time to call today.  It must be today.  Thank you!  Stephanie

Dear Friend,

Our nation's animal overpopulation crisis affects every state, and in California, it is estimated that nearly a half million dogs and cats must be euthanized for lack of good homes annually! Animal control and sheltering operations cost California taxpayers approximately $250 million every year. A lifesaving piece of legislation that would help abate this crisis—Senate Bill 250, the Pet Responsibility Act—failed the Senate vote yesterday, June 1, but will be given one more shot during a reconsideration session happening today. We're told that several key members of the Senate are on the fence but are considering supporting the bill during reconsideration, so it's more important than ever to let your voice be heard!

If it becomes law, SB 250 would prohibit any person from owning or possessing any unaltered cat or dog unless that person obtains an unaltered-dog permit or keeps unaltered cats strictly indoors. This legislation would make California a safer place for all and save countless animal lives.

Please help this lifesaving bill pass the Senate and get one step closer to becoming law by making a quick phone call to your California senator politely urging him or her to vote " Yes " on SB 250. Click here to find your senator's name and contact information.

ALL PHONE CALLS MUST BE SUBMITTED IMMEDIATELY TODAY for consideration before the vote!

Also, kindly forward this message to others in California who might be willing to lend their voices to this important issue. E-mails will not be helpful at this point; your call will mean the world to cats and dogs in need.

Thank you for your compassion and immediate action for animals.

Sincerely,

SB 250 passed the Senate earlier today. Organizers are asking for

folks to not call, fax, etc anymore. It now moves to the Assembly.
