Guest guest
There are 5 fish left in the science lab at the school where I work. One is an African cichlid female in great physical shape but going mental in a tank all by herself (territorial/eat other fish) She's about 8 inches long and was kept in a 15 gal tank with a huge rock for years! The school finally let me buy a 55 gallon tank for her and now she can't go back to anything smaller - but she needs to be with other fish somewhere where she'll be taken care of properly. The other 55 gal tank supports 3 plecos and I believe a parrot fish - orange and white striped. I've made 3 separate large rock caves and still the parrot fish has to fight for space all the time and is pretty stressed. Between that and the poor water quality, she's stopped eating. I spend hours taking care of them but the water's just not that good so I've been having a service come. At$70 a visit, I'm tapped out of money. The science teacher neglects them and is disdainful when I ask for his help to clean the tanks, feed, balance pH, etc. I think he's going to just give them away to anyone soon. They all need better homes. I don't think the parrot fish would mind leaving to be with other fish and I know 2 plecos wouldn't mind being separated from the larger pleco. Anyone have any suggestions or know if aquariums would take them? They are incredible beings with fantastic personalities and I'd like to find them homes where they can be happy. Thanks!
